Craft punches are easy to get and you can buy them cheap on internet or in a store. Scrapbookers use craft punches to make their scrapbooks to look better and make handmade cards. Craft punches are also called buttons punches.

Craft punches are made of metal and have a shape to cut paper into shapes. It has a slot where you place the paper and you press it to cut the paper. You can either emboss or cut the same multiple times. The options are in hundreds and they come in different sizes and shapes. Some of them are big and you have to place on table to work with it, but a lot of them are smaller and can easy be used with one hand. Either if you use big or small it's recommended that you use a mat to place on the table to avoid making marks on your table.

The small punches, so called lever style punches are very easy to use on a table or in your hand.

Here are some tips to how you should use your craft punches:

If it is the first time you going to use the craft punch it is recommended to test it on thin paper first to loosen it up a little bit first.

Cutting through paper is the best and effective material to use with craft punches. The reason is because paper is very thin and it's easy to get nice punched shapes.

Card paper is a bit trickier, some of them will work well and some don't. It all depends of the thickness of the card stock and the quality of the craft punch.

Sometimes you might consider using metal as an accessory for your scrapbooking, which is OK if you us a lever craft punch, but not a button punch. You can also try to use a punchmate if you can't do it properly.

You can also use other materials such as paper for wrapping, mulberry paper, acetate and wallpaper. Materials such as cellophane, fabric and felt would not work that good.

There are a huge variety of craft punches available either online or in any craft store. Paper punches are also known as 'button punches' and a great way to accessories your scrapbook layouts and handmade cards.

If your craft punches has jammed for some reason, it might be that the blades have expanded under high pressure and temperature. You should then put it in a cool place such as the fridge or freezer to cool it down for a while. Under no circumstances should you try to fix it by sticking sharp knives of scissors in to it. This can harm the blades or even worse cut you.

It's very tempting to try and cut out shapes from thick paper, but it's strongly advised not to do it since this can mis-align the blades or in worst case break the punch completely and you will never cut a crisp shape with it again.
