5000,5000?? |

| We just started to use a Trimble R6 gps system. In every job, it assigns a point 5000,5000. This point is always about 315 miles away from us, depending on where in our county we are located, and at elevation 328.08'. I assume that the base station that we get corrections from has a known location, and that from this known location, it finds 5000,5000. My quirky question is, "Where exactly on the ground is 5000,5000?" Does it exist? Or, is this point truly randomly generated, and isn't an actual spot compared to a known object? Thanks.

I asked a colleague about this and they had this to say:
The person does not state what software he is using in the field, but from the sound of it he must have Spectra Precision Survey Pro. When you create a job in Survey Pro versions earlier than v. 5.0.3 you were required to enter a point, the default is 5000.00,5000.00, 100.00 (which if he was using metric would give him the 328.08 elevation). Doesn’t have anything to do with his Trimble R6, it was part of the Survey Pro software.
