Please consult with your medicalpractitioner for accurate treatment. Yeast Infections Yeast infections areanother common fungal skin infections caused by a group of yeast-like fungicalled Candida. Candida consists of more than 20 different types of species,and among them is Candida alb cans. This is the species responsible for mostnumber of skin infections. These are commonly found on the surface of our body,and are usually harmless, causing no discomfort. However, due to certainfactors, these microorganisms may grow beyond control, and cause infections tooccur on the skin. These occur when the fungi is surrounded with warm and moistenvironment, as we saw in case of fungal infections caused by dermatophytes.The only difference is that unlike ringworm infections, most yeast infectionsare not contagious. Candidacies is the most common form of yeast infection thataffects the skin. Some of the common fungal infections caused by the Candida albcans are listed as under. Oral Thrush Vaginal Yeast Infection Diaper Rash InterringTine Vesicular Oral Thrush Most commonly found among infants and toddlers, thisfungal infection occurs in the lining of the mouth. The fungus Candida alb cansgrows abnormally and Rejuvaessence accumulates in and around the mouth. Adolescents andadults may also get this infection - especially if they have a weak immunesystem. Usually, people with conditions like diabetes mellitus, HIV/AIDS,cancer, or people who wear dentures, consume antibiotics or corticosteroids, orwho smoke are under the risk of developing this infection. Symptoms may include- Creamy white lesions on the lining of the mouth. These lesions may alsoappear on the tongue, the roof of the mouth, gums, tonsils, and inner cheeksAbsence of the sense of taste accompanied with a cottony feeling in the mouthPain in the affected area Bleeding when the lesions are scratched Cracked skinat the corners of the lips accompanied with redness When an infant has thisinfection, it is likely to be passed to the mother during breast feeding.
