Hormone Balance- Most men carry their weight in their mid-section.  And while dieting and moderate activity can go a long way to losing weight, as we age, our hormones change as well.  If you are a man over 40 who has tried to lose weight by pumping iron at the gym, then you will certainly understand the uphill battle.  The problem lies in the free testosterone reduction that occurs are we age.

 Resting Energy Expenditure Rate-  We all know that if we walk, run, or work out, that our bodies will burn more Weight lose for older men calories.  But did you know that you burn calories by sitting, eating and doing regular, everyday activities?  Studies have shown that as we age, are resting energy expenditure rate decreases as we age.  This is a huge problem for people over 40 as we are left with just 2 options....either eat less or exercise more.  Scientists have figured out our REER as we age could account for a 120-170 calorie addition a day.  Multiply it by 365 days a year and you will see that even a slight increase in calories gained will result in more weight.
