Hemorrhoids or piles as they are more commonly  Femin Plus Review known are something that affects at least 50% of people across the world at some point or points in their lives. It is a condition that once experienced, is more likely to recur again. In most instances piles are more of an inconvenience than anything else. The majority of cases are relatively short lived (3 to 4 days is average), and disappear, untreated. However, there are more serious cases that will require some form of medication or treatment in order to both relieve the condition and to cure it too.So, what exactly are piles, why do we get them, and what are the symptoms of piles?Piles are a swelling and inflammation of the rectum.

They are actually blood vessels that for reasons we shall discuss in a moment, have been caused to swell up and can become quite tender, and sometimes painful. In more chronic cases, the pain can be quite severe, but again, this is something that we shall examine more closely when we discuss the symptoms. Why do we get them? Well, there are several risk factors that increase the chances of piles developing. They include standing upright for protracted periods of time.

The design of the human body is such that standing in an upright position increases pressure on the rectal region (just through sheer weight and the force of gravity), which in turn exerts pressure on the blood vessels in the rectal area. By the same token, prolonged periods of sitting can also lead to piles developing too.Other circumstances that can exacerbate the risk of piles developing are: straining whilst passing stools, difficulty in going to the toilet (constipation), diarrhea, being overweight or obese, and for ladies, pregnancy can also be a possible cause or risk enhancer, most often during the final trimester as this is when most pressure is being exerted on the uterus. Anal sex is another risk factor.
