While it may seem overwhelming if you're just starting a business, processing credit cards is not nearly as complicated as most people believe. There are five different parties involved in the exchange of information, making the entire process appear seamless.

The Five Parties Involved

1. The Cardholder - The person who holds the credit card account, also known as your customer.

2. The Merchant - The business (you) who accepts the cardholder's credit card as payment.

3. The Issuer - The financial institution or organization issuing the credit to the cardholder.

4. The Acquirer - The financial institution or organization providing the merchant how to become an iso processing services.

5. The Card Association - The network (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, etc.) providing funding and authorization between the acquirer and issuer.
