In addition to nicotine, there are 7,000 other chemicals in cigarettes, including substances that are very toxic to the body. At least 69 substances are likely to cause cancer.

The following are some key toxins:

- Asphalt: When you inhale smoke, tar will cling to the windpipe and lungs. The trachea is covered with small hairs, called cilia, to "scan" pathogens and other substances from the lungs. The task of cirrhosis becomes difficult when the trachea and lungs are attached to tar. Cigarette tar contains chemicals, called carcinogens, that can stimulate the growth of cancer cells in the body.

- Oxide of carbon: Oxide of carbon combines with hemoglobin in the blood and prevents the transport of oxygen to cells. This means that smokers often have difficulty breathing and are easily tired. Finally, you have a type of respiratory disease, called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. When you have this disease, you will find it more and more difficult to breathe.

- Oxidizing gas: Oxidizing gases are gases that react with oxygen. They can cause blood clots in the blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke.
