Emotional responses sometimes Meditation In A Bottle come from the belief of being a victim. Believing yourself to be a victim gives your power away to the situation or the people involved. If you feel angry toward someone that anger comes from a belief about what you think should happen. Whatever your experience you can meet it with calmness and accept it as part of your experience of life.
The difference is that now you can affect change in a positive way instead of creating more negative judgments about what should happen. For example if you lose your job, many emotions may come up. Anger, depression and shame are some feelings that may arise. What causes these emotions to come forward? What beliefs are being tested? Your emotions flare up because of the attachment you have to your beliefs about what happened. However your reaction to any event is always under your control.
You can decide if you are going to be a victim or not. You can be a witness to any event and accept the reality of the event without attachment. Your attachment to the event is what creates the emotions expressed. When you assume the role of a victim, you are identifying with your beliefs about the event and not the event itself. Stop being a victim by releasing any negative judgments about what should happen.Compassion is the awareness of seeing people who are suffering with stressful beliefs. You observe and interact with people and you see their confusion from believing stressful thoughts.
