Many surge protection device manufacturers provide electrical devices that can protect your home from asurge. The surge protection device (SPD) is installed in power distributionpanels, communications systems, process control systems, and other heavy-dutyindustrial systems as per the requirement and the purpose.

Types of surgical devices

A surge protection device is placedand fixed on a residential circuit breaker panel. There are two types of surgesprotective devices: Type 1 and type 2:

Type 1 devices They are fixedbefore the central spot in the load center. Type 1 Surge Protective Device(SPD)s, installs between the line side of the service equipment overcurrentdevice and the secondary service transformer.

Moreover, it is also fixed as the loadside, including watt-hour meter socket enclosures installed without an externalovercurrent protective device. Also, they are dual-rated.
