It is not a question of quantity but a question of quality. Eatenough protein Muscle is basically tissue, water and glycogen . The importantthing is not to lose tissue and for this the best way is to not starve yourselfand eat enough protein. The order of magnitude for achieving this goal is toeat 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight. If you weigh 70 pounds then 70grams of protein a day should be enough. The quantity represents the quantityof proteins and not the quantity of meat for example.
