We are talking about three movies that are timeless,” Michael Kors Purses told us at Thursday night’s launch of the inaugural “Icons of Style” film series hosted in partnership with Vanity Fair and Fashion & Cinema. The New York fashion designer combed through his favorite American films and, ergo, his favorite American film stars—Ali MacGraw, Rene Russo, and Kate Hudson—and invited them to join him and Vanity Fair’s Elizabeth Saltzman in a conversation about American film and fashion at London’s Ham Yard Hotel. The onstage Q&A was followed by a screening of MacGraw’s arguably most lauded film, Love Story, while Almost Famous played on Friday and The Thomas Crown Affair on Saturday Michael Kors Outlet.

VF.com took the occasion to sit down with all of the leading ladies and Michael Kors in advance of the event.

Michael Kors Outlet Online Thomas Crown was interesting because, first of all, if we didn’t have the clothes on that film, we would have been so screwed,” Russo told us with a laugh. “I have those clothes in my closet because I stole them.” Then she turned to Kors, “You never called; I was like please don’t call, please don’t call. I still wear them today.”

More than wear them, she explained, that wardrobe practically defines her. “I literally have hundreds of women come up to me, and I can see as they’re crossing the room Michael Kors Handbags, I know exactly what they’re going to say: the clothes in The Thomas Crown Affair. It’s never the performance, it’s never the movie, it’s not even Pierce [Brosnan], it’s the clothes! That’s the timelessness.”

To which Michael Kors Handbags Outlet interjected, “It was this sexy moment in coats and sweaters. It was all about a turtleneck!”

And then there were peacoats: “I went to school in Boston,” MacGraw began, speaking to the preppy garments that epitomized Love Story. “That’s what we looked like. It wasn’t the contrivance of a fashion designer or a costume designer. Yes, we all wore the Polo coat; yes, we all had a striped scarf.”

The actresses laughed over memories of their younger selves—MacGraw dared to suggest to the Love Story costume designer that her character sport a micro-miniskirt, Russo recalled a failed attempt at being a dominatrix (all for role research, of course), and Hudson thought Almost Famous was “going to be a sketch comedy or something.” Meanwhile, the event continued on into the night, moving on to the newly refurbished Ivy restaurant for dinner alongside actresses Uma Thurman, Clémence Poésy, Samantha Barks, and Cush Jumbo, as well as models Malaika Firth, Lily Donaldson, and Poppy Delevingne.
