Urban India generates 62 million tonnes of waste (MSW) annually, and it has been predicted that this will reach 165 million tonnes in 2030. 43 million tonnes of municipal solid waste is collected annually, out of which 31 million is dumped in landfill sites and just 11.9 million is treated. The need of the hour is to extend the reach and accessibility of startups like these so that more people become aware about how to deal with waste in a more sustainable manner. What would help is if the government creates guidelines or laws regarding solid waste management in collaboration with the private sector. This can help India deal with its waste problems.
